I’d like to thank the Academy (okay, not quite)

Yesterday morning, I was tittering away on my laptop, having a jolly good time tapping the keys of my keyboard…

…when suddenly I got an email.

It was a WordPress notification, regarding a lovely post that had–

All right, I’m as sick of the archaic talk as you are.  Let’s just cut to the chase and say, I’ve just received two awards, from a blogger who is as loyal to my own blog as I try to be to his.  I’m not perfect, just good enough to win an award. Much thanks to Fernando Quintero over at the dainty and utterly ravishing movie blog, Committed to Celluloid.

There are a few rules that must be followed when one makes it known that one has an iron fist enclosed on these two awards.  Or two iron fists, if you can’t fit two awards in one palm.  There are five of them:

1. Include the award’s logo [awards’ logos] in a post or on your blog.

Courtesy of Fernando’s blog (and whoever designed the logo).

For those who are illiterate (and if that’s the case, how are you going about this post, anyway?), I am accepting the Sunshine Award and the I Am Part of the WordPress Family Award.

2. Link to the person who nominated you.

[see introduction above]

3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.

Since Fernando didn’t provide any additional questions, I’ll take up his “answer the same questions I did” offer:

1. Favorite TV show?

It’s a tossup between The Big Bang Theory and The Simpsons.  Though for the sake of not having to hear complaints from those who have been watching The Simpsons since its inception in December of 1989, about how it’s not even funny anymore (insert loud buzzer sound effect here), I’ll just go with The Big Bang Theory.

2. Favorite food?

For those who (OBVIOUSLY) don’t know me, tacos.

3. Which famous person would you like to be best buddies with?

Charles Manson.  Just kidding.

I’ll go with Woody Allen, assuming his sense of humor is as conversational as it is cinematic.  Though if “best buddies” implies hearing him ramble about Bergman for longer than the average Bergman movie, then I’ll have to come back to this question.

4. Favorite fruit?

I like me some wutamellin.

5. Favorite color?

For the Anthony Burgess fans out there: Orange lomticks, o my brothers, are not so baddiwad.  The color orange is rather choodessny.

NOTE: It’s really blue. I just like A Clockwork Orange.

6. Favorite painter?

Steven Soderbergh.  Leonardo da Vinci.

7. 5 guests for your fantasy dinner party?

Mel Brooks

Daniel Day-Lewis

Faye Dunaway

Quentin Tarantino

Uma Thurman

8. Best concert you’ve ever been to?

At this point in my life, I’ve been to two concerts: Passion Pit in June of 2010, and Linkin Park in January of 2011.  Both were memorable in their own ways.

9. Favorite place you’ve never been to?

Since “place” can mean any number of things, I’ll go with the fictional (I think?) Jack Rabbit Slim’s restaurant from Pulp Fiction.

10. Favorite scents?
If I’m watching a really bad movie, then chloroform, chloroform, and more chloroform.  Actually, just about anything that is reminiscent of a city.  That could be grilling hot dogs or (I’ve come to believe there’s not a single person who agrees with me here) cigarettes.

4. Nominate 10 bloggers.

cinematic corner.

The Cinematic Katzenjammer

The Code Is Zeek

A Door into Movies

Fast Film Reviews

Film Hipster

Marked Movies

Movie Writing

Today I Watched a Movie

***Please note that while neither cinematic corner. nor The Code Is Zeek are WordPress blogs (one of the two awards is called the I Am Part of the WordPress Family Award), they’re worth the mention.  As I learned during the “pilot season” of my own blog–the short time with Blogspot started when I started my blog on July 30, 2011, and ended when I switched over to WordPress early that October–it’s really difficult to have the patience not only to create a blog on Blogspot, but also to keep moving along with it.

5. Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.

I’ll be back.

  1. Congratulations to The Cinemaniac!!!
I always knew you were brilliant when you could sing all the words to “Bye Bye American Pie” when most kids just had learnt their ABC’s…
